Why the Midterm Odds Might Still Be in the GOP’s Favor

Mid-decade redistricting could be a life preserver for Republicans.

The Republican Party’s mid-decade redistricting gambit is shaping up as a potential midterm election bonanza after first appearing as though it might go spectacularly bust.

Republicans in the House of Representatives are currently clinging to a two-seat majority. All that should be required for Democrats to capture the speaker’s gavel in midterm elections this fall is a net gain of three seats.
