The former EastEnders star has kept up his trend of delivering iconic celebratory videos

Ross Kemp has lauded the "true English spirit" shown by Harry Kane, Jude Bellingham and the rest of the England team following their victory over Mexico on Monday morning.

England secured a remarkable 3-2 triumph over Mexico at the Azteca Stadium in the World Cup last 16, advancing to the quarter-finals despite playing most of the second half with 10 men.

Jude Bellingham proved the match-winner with a stunning brace inside 98 seconds during the first half, first heading home from Bukayo Saka's pinpoint delivery before stabbing in his second following a slick exchange with Harry Kane.

The captain himself converted from the penalty spot after Anthony Gordon was brought down by goalkeeper Raúl Rangel, extending England's advantage to 3-1.

Mexico made it 3-2 soon after with a spot kick of their own but England managed to stand firm against attack after attack to see the game out.

Thomas Tuchel's side will now travel to Miami to face Norway on July 11, following the Scandinavians' shock 2-1 victory over Brazil earlier on Sunday.

Following the result, Kemp, whose reactions to England matches have become somewhat iconic among football fans, took to Instagram to deliver yet another impassioned take.

Speaking to the camera from his home, the actor told fans: "That is without doubt the best England performance I think I've ever seen. That is, without doubt, true English spirit.

"To play against that VAR, to play with one man down, to play so heroically, so courageously, I am so proud. So proud," he added as his voice began to waver and the emotions took hold.

Regaining his composure, he signed off: "If you can do that, you can beat anybody. Come on, England! Bring. It. On."

Mr Kemp reiterated his pride in the accompanying caption of the post, simply writing: "So proud @england," followed by a love heart emoji.

The match was far from plain sailing for England and it turned dramatically in the 54th minute when Jarell Quansah received his marching orders for a reckless challenge on Jesús Gallardo.

Referee Alireza Faghani initially allowed play to continue but was summoned to the pitchside monitor by the video assistant referee.

The former Liverpool defender, who had returned to the starting lineup following injury, could offer no argument against the dismissal.

England were forced to reorganise immediately, with Tuchel withdrawing Saka and introducing John Stones to shore up the defence.

The red card came just as England had started the second half brightly, with Nico O'Reilly striking the woodwork moments earlier.

Julián Quiñones had already hauled Mexico back into contention before the interval, volleying past Jordan Pickford after Ezri Konsa failed to clear a free-kick delivery.

The hosts sensed an opportunity following Quansah's dismissal, and their persistence was rewarded when Kane inadvertently kicked Brian Gutiérrez while attempting to clear inside the penalty area.

Following a VAR review, Raúl Jiménez stepped up to reduce the deficit to 3-2, having earlier been denied twice by outstanding Pickford saves.

England's rearguard action in the closing stages proved exceptional, with Tuchel deploying a back five featuring Dan Burn and Djed Spence alongside Stones.

Burn made several crucial headed clearances and blocks, while Marc Guéhi produced one phenomenal late challenge to preserve the advantage.

The Three Lions endured 11 minutes of added time before securing their famous victory.

The victory marked only the third competitive defeat Mexico have suffered at the Azteca in 89 matches since 1966, and England's first appearance at the iconic venue since Diego Maradona's infamous "Hand of God" ended their 1986 World Cup campaign.

Kane described the evening as "one of my favourite nights in my career," praising his teammates' "complete desire, determination and pride in the shirt."

The triumph also represents just the second occasion England have beaten World Cup hosts, following their 1954 victory over Switzerland.
