The wedding between the Shake It Off singer and her American Football-playing beau is set to be spectacular

Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are set to exchange vows at Madison Square Garden this weekend, with festivities commencing on Thursday evening at the iconic New York venue.

The couple has invited approximately 100 guests to an intimate rehearsal dinner at the Infosys Theater within the arena, scheduled to begin around 6pm local time and conclude at 10:30pm.

Tomorrow's main celebration will see up to 1,000 attendees gather for what promises to be a spectacular affair.

Doors open at 4pm for cocktails on the sixth floor, followed by the ceremony on the arena floor at 5:30pm and a reception expected to continue until 2am.

According to law enforcement sources, the event will feature musical performances, with the couple constructing an elaborate stage set inside the venue.

The New York Police Department is deploying approximately 130 officers to manage security outside the arena across both days, according to law enforcement sources.

More than 70 detectives from various city precincts will work 8.5-hour shifts at rates between $80 and $90 per hour, whilst over 50 junior officers are expected to patrol for nine-hour stints at $70 hourly.

With senior police officials also assigned to the event, total security expenditure is projected to surpass $160,000.

NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch confirmed yesterday that her department was monitoring the situation.

"The NYPD will of course have a detail in place, but I'm not going to go into more specifics at this time," she stated at a press conference.

The pop star is expected to cover overtime costs, whilst other officers will work their regular shifts.

The deployment comes as the NYPD faces what officials describe as unprecedented demands on resources during an exceptionally busy period.

Officers have already been stretched by the Fifa World Cup, which continues until July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey, alongside the recent New York Knicks championship run that drew enormous crowds to the same venue.

Scott Munro, president of the city's detectives union, expressed concern about the additional burden.

"Can we take anything else on here?" he said, noting that roughly 5,000 detectives have logged 85 hours of overtime in the past month due to the NBA finals and World Cup.

Commissioner Tisch had previously ordered 12-hour shifts throughout the tournament period, whilst the department anticipates spending approximately $92 million in overtime this summer to manage the city's major events.

Ms Swift has applied for permits to close West 31st and West 33rd Streets bordering the venue on Friday, with preparations including a tent-covered entrance to shield VIP guests from photographers as they arrive.

Police expect around 500 vehicles to transport attendees to the celebration, with guests entering through a specially secured area on 31st Street adjacent to a parking garage.

The couple has engaged private security to supplement the police presence, with officers from Amtrak and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority also deployed around the arena, which sits atop Penn Station.

Retired NYPD assistant chief John Hart noted that managing media and fan areas outside the secured perimeter would fall to police, along with handling paparazzi pursuing vehicles carrying guests between hotels and the venue.
