Hirenko said: "For those wanting a shorter look, a textured pixie cut can feel incredibly fresh and confident. The added texture enhances the cheekbones and prevents the style from appearing too severe, which is key to keeping it contemporary."

For something mid-length, a blunt bob can be one of the most universally flattering trims. She added: "A shoulder-length blunt cut can also be very chic and sophisticated.

"It is particularly so when combined with a rich, glossy colour. The finish should feel sleek but still have movement, ensuring it doesn’t appear too heavy."

Many women cut their hair shorter with age, as this can be easier to manage and counteract the changes that happen to hair during menopause. However, thinking they must choose a shorter look is an outdated rule.

For those who want to stick with long hair, the right layers and texture will give a more youthful look, the stylist explained. She said: "If you prefer to keep length, opt for face-framing layers paired with a soft, natural wave.
