Aldi shoppers across Britain could soon find a new store opening closer to home.
The supermarket has identified 160 "priority locations" at the centre of its latest expansion drive.
The budget chain plans to open 40 new stores this year as part of a £370million investment programme.
Its longer-term ambition is to grow its UK estate to 1,500 branches.
The priority list stretches from Stirling in Scotland to Penzance in Cornwall and was shaped by suggestions from shoppers.
Aldi invited customers in May to nominate towns and cities where they wanted a new discount supermarket.
Those responses helped the retailer decide which locations to target.
The company is already searching for suitable sites in 25 of the areas, including Newcastle, Leeds, Warwick and Bath.
Jonathan Neale, Aldi UK's managing director of national real estate, said: "We know how important it is for people to have access to affordable, high-quality food close to where they live, which is why we're focused on identifying the communities that would benefit most from a new Aldi store.
"Opening new stores in these areas means we can bring great value to more customers, while also creating jobs and offering industry-leading pay."
The capital is receiving particular attention, with Aldi committing £40million to deliver eight new London branches before the end of 2026, a move expected to generate hundreds of jobs and widen access to affordable groceries in areas currently underserved by discount retailers.
Its next branch is due to welcome customers on Thursday 6 August on Edgware Road, one of the capital's busiest thoroughfares.
Precise opening dates for the remaining planned stores have not yet been confirmed, though they are expected to roll out gradually over the coming months.
Aldi currently holds the title of the UK's best-paying supermarket, with starting wages set at £13.50 per hour nationally and £14.88 for staff working within the M25.
