High street banks and building societies are promoting online services and closing branches to the ire of many customers
Bank customers are being warned about the pending flood of bank branch closures coming in 2024.
The rise in online banking has exacerbated the shutting down of high street bank and building society branches in the UK.
According to data from consumer watchdog Which?, around 5,791 branches have closed since January 2015.
This is a rate of around 54 a month and is set to continue in the 2024 with major lenders confirming multiple closures.
Among the banks that will be shutting down locations next year include Barclays, Halifax, Lloyds and NatWest.
HSBC UK has vowed not to announce any more closures next year.
