Bank branch closures will continue into 2024 and 2025, including from Barclays
Barclays is set to close more than 70 bank branches in 2024 and 2025 in a blow to Britain’s high streets.
The rate of bank branch closures has picked up the pace in recent years.
Banks and building societies have closed 5,818 branches since January 2015, at a rate of around 54 each month, according to Which?
Many high street banking institutions are reducing in-person services and increasing focus on operations online.
Critics have warned local communities are at risk of being disenfranchised with this move within the banking sector.
