Several bondholders who purchased their investments just months ago have also landed six-figure sums this June
A Premium Bonds saver from Bromley has scooped a £100,000 prize despite holding a modest £270 in total investments.
The fortunate bondholder's winning entry was a £100 bond originally bought back in February 2000, demonstrating that even small, long-held investments can yield substantial returns.
The win highlights the unpredictable nature of NS&I's prize draw system, where bond value and holding period do not guarantee success.
ERNIE, the electronic random number generator operated by National Savings and Investments, selected the winning bond number from over 136 billion individual £1 bonds entered into the June draw.
The Bromley resident's windfall came alongside 70 other savers who also claimed £100,000 prizes this month.
Several bondholders who purchased their investments just months ago have also landed six-figure sums in the June draw.
A saver from Southern Scotland claimed £100,000 with a £50,000 bond acquired in March 2026, while a Hertfordshire resident won the same amount from a £7,000 investment made that same month.
In South Yorkshire, one bondholder turned a £9,300 purchase from April 2026 into a £100,000 prize.
An Outer London saver achieved particularly impressive returns, winning £100,000 from just £600 invested in April this year.
A Surrey resident also secured the six-figure sum with a £5,000 bond bought in January 2026, proving that recent purchasers can compete with long-term holders for major prizes.
The June 2026 draw produced two millionaires, with savers from Leeds and Cheshire & West Chester each claiming the top £1million jackpot.
NS&I's random number generator distributed more than 5.9 million tax-free prizes worth a combined £376million across the country this month.
The Leeds winner, who holds £42,425 in bonds, purchased their successful entry in February 2026 and becomes the fifth millionaire from the city.
Their counterpart from Cheshire & West Chester holds £33,800 and bought the winning bond in March 2024, making them only the second local bondholder to claim the jackpot.
Andrew Westhead, retail director at NS&I, said: "Agent Million has made the start of summer even brighter for two lucky £1million jackpot winners from Leeds and Cheshire & West Chester."
Thousands of prizes remain uncollected across the regions where this month's jackpot winners reside.
Leeds alone has 17,917 prizes totalling £756,600 still waiting to be claimed, including a £10,000 award from July 2023 that has yet to be collected.
The city's oldest outstanding prize dates back to 1961, more than six decades after it was won.
Cheshire & West Chester also has significant unclaimed winnings, with a £25,000 prize from June 2023 still awaiting its rightful owner.
Mr Westhead urged bondholders to verify their holdings, stating: "You can check using our NS&I prize checker app from Tuesday June 2 to find out if ERNIE has brought you a win this month."
