A major incident has been declared at a recycling centre in Avonmouth, Bristol.

Avon Fire and Rescue crews were called to a large blaze on Kings Weston Lane shortly after 1.30am on Wednesday 15 July.

In a statement, the fire service said: “All personnel. At the site were safely evacuated and there are currently no reported casualties.

“Avon and Somerset Police are also in attendance and are supporting with road closures.”

A huge swathe of firefighters from 14 stations including Avonmouth, Bedminster and Weston-Super-Mare attended the incident.

They were supported with specialist resources like turntable ladders and high-volume pumps.

Locals are being urged to keep doors and windows closed and stay indoors where they can.

Kings Weston Lane is shut between the A403 St Andrews Road and Long Cross while fire crews work to tame the blaze.

The public is also being told to steer clear of the area and expect disruption while emergency services continue their operation.
