A British woman was discovered dead inside her cabin on a cruise ship as it arrived at the Greek island of Santorini on Sunday.
Crew members found the 62-year-old passenger after entering her private room, prompting local authorities to open an investigation into the circumstances surrounding her death.
The vessel was docked at the popular Aegean destination when staff made the grim discovery.
Greek officials have since begun examining the case, though early indications suggest the death may have occurred from natural causes.

Her body was taken by boat from the cruise ship to the port of Athinios during the early morning hours.
From there, she was transported to the General Hospital of Thira, where medical professionals formally confirmed that she had died.
The transfer from vessel to shore required a separate boat to reach the Santorini port, reflecting the logistical challenges of removing a passenger from a large cruise ship docked off the island.
Doctors at the Thira hospital carried out an initial examination before the official declaration of death was made.

The port authority in Thira has opened a preliminary inquiry into the woman's death and has directed that her remains be sent to the Piraeus Forensic Service for a post-mortem examination.

He was later transferred to a private hospital in Chania, where he was pronounced dead.
The Chania Port Authority is now conducting a preliminary investigation and has ordered an autopsy.
