BREAKING: Two dead and four injured after horror crash in Doncaster as driver arrested
The vehicle hit a group of pedestrians before slamming into two other cars on the opposite side of the carriageway
Two people are dead and four left injured following a horror crash in Doncaster.
Police officers were summoned to reports of a multivehicle collision in White Rose Way, Doncaster, at around 11am on Sunday.
The driver has also been arrested after the vehicle was reported to have ploughed into a gaggle of pedestrians and two other cars.
A black Mitsubishi L200 was reported to have been driving down the carriageway before hitting a group of four pedestrians.
The vehicle proceeded to smash into a black Audi and a silver BMW on the other side of the carriageway, South Yorkshire Police confirmed.
Ambulance and air ambulance services attended the scene before two pedestrians were pronounced dead at the scene.
Another four were taken to hospital to be treated for serious - but not life-threatening - injuries.
A police spokesman confirmed they were "working to identify and inform" the victims' next of kin.
The driver of the Mitsubishi, a 30-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of two counts of causing death by dangerous driving.
He has also been detained on suspicion of two counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, and driving while unfit.
SYP has launched an investigation into the fatal collision, calling on eyewitnesses as well as those with dashcam footage to come forward.

A South Yorkshire Police spokesman said: "We are appealing for any witnesses, and anyone who may have dashcam footage, following a fatal road traffic collision in Doncaster over the weekend.
"Around 11am on Sunday, we were called to reports of a multiple vehicle collision on White Rose Way, between Carriage Drive and Middle Bank Roundabout.
"It is reported that a black Mitsubishi L200 was travelling down the carriageway, before it collided with a group of four pedestrians.
"It is further reported that the Mitsubishi then collided with a black Audi and a silver BMW which were travelling on the opposite of the carriageway.
"Our officers alongside the ambulance and air ambulance services attended.
"Despite best efforts of medical professionals, two pedestrians were sadly pronounced dead at the scene. We are currently working to identify and inform their next of kin.
"Four other people were taken to hospital with serious but not life-threatening injuries.
"An investigation has been launched and officers are now asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision, or who was nearby and may have dashcam footage to please come forward.
