Rebecca Bullock was heading to Austria to support a friend at a funeral before she was brutally murdered

The British woman who was stabbed to death at a German train station has been named as a "much-loved" pub landlady.

Rebecca Bullock, known to family and friends as Becca, died after being stabbed multiple times after what is believed to have been a random attack on Sunday.

The 31-year-old, who was understood to have been travelling to Austria to support a friend at a funeral, died in hospital of her injuries.

German police were called to Rosenheim train station in Upper Bavaria at around 12.50am and quickly arrested a 27-year-old man of no fixed address.

He had been detained in a psychiatric hospital on suspicion of murder as the authorities continue their inquiries.

Tributes to Ms Bullock were left outside the White Swan pub in Whitchurch, Buckinghamshire.

The pub remained closed after news emerged of the landlady's murder in Germany.

In a social media post, the pub landlords wrote: "It is with the heaviest of hearts that we are having to write this.

"We are so deeply sorry to say that our beloved Becca passed away over the weekend whilst away on holiday.

"All our thoughts and condolences are with her family at this time.

"Becca was much loved by all of the team at the White Swan and our amazing locals."

Many tributes flooded in on social media, with locals crediting Ms Bullock to running charity fundraisers at the pub, with the most recent being for a seriously ill girl in the community.

One man wrote on Facebook: "Such a positive and bubbly person.

"My love goes out to her family as it does to all my friends in Whitchurch. Fly high my darling friend."

Another wrote: "You made us feel so welcome, such a caring person that will go out her way for others.

"You brought that pub back to life, words can't describe how much impact you had in the pub and he village."

Richard Shuffill, 82, the vice-chairman of Whitchurch parish council said Ms Bullock had been "like a breath of fresh air" at the White Swan.

He told the Sun: "It was impossible not to like her. She was always pleasant and friendly. No one can believe what's happened and she will be terribly missed.

"Her death has come as a real shock and it's a huge loss to our community. I only saw her Saturday lunchtime and then 12 hours later – bless her – she is no longer with us."

Ms Bullock's social media profile showed she was a keen horsewoman, regularly participating in trail hunting, as well as enjoying sports.

The police have asked anyone with information or who saw "an argument or physical altercation" at the station to get in-touch with Rosenheim Criminal Police Inspectorate.

The Foreign Office said: "We are supporting the family of a British woman who died in Germany and are in touch with the local authorities."

A Thames Valley Police spokesman said: "On Sunday, we were informed by the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office that a British national has sadly died at Rosenheim Railway Station in Germany.

"The victim's next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially trained family liaison officers, alongside officers from the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office.

"We continue to liaise with the German authorities, and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the victim at this time."
