A 24-year-old man has died after suffering serious stab wounds during a broad-daylight attack.
Officers descended on Chapel Street in Levenshulme just after 7pm on Saturday following reports of the man who had suffered the devastating injuries.
Despite their best efforts, he was pronounced dead at the scene while detectives continue to search for his next of kin.
Since the attack, a 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of murder.
He remains in police custody for questioning, officials from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed.
At the scene, a large cordon stayed in place while a forensics team inspected the area, setting up a tent just off the street.
The street has been taped off by officials following what was believed to be an isolated incident with no wider threat to the public.

Detective Inspector Alex Wilkinson from our Major Incident Team said: "Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim in this tragic incident.
"Officers acted swiftly to arrest a man, who is in our custody for questioning.
"Our investigation is ongoing and we would like to hear from anyone who may have information that can assist us.

The crime rate in the area is higher than the national average, accounting for around 134 to 160 crime per 1,000 residents.
Violent and sexual offences make up the larger share of offences, while theft and robbery make up a substantial proportion as well.
On Thursday morning, another man was found seriously injured after he was stabbed in a car closer to the city centre.
Following reports of an assault, police flocked to Fog Lane, Burnage where the victim was hospitalised in the aftermath.
After a woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit assault as well as a man on suspicion of assault, GMP confirmed the incident was isolated.
