A convicted sex offender sent "highly sexualised" messages to a 13-year-old girl whilst he was in prison, a court has heard.
Martin Mills, 37, sent messages after sneaking a mobile phone into North Sea Camp , a category D open prison in Lincolnshire, Lincoln Crown Court was told.
He previously pleaded guilty to four charges dating back to 2024 when he appeared at Boston Magistrates’ Court via video link from HMP Whatton in June.
Mills had previously been convicted of rape of a child under the age of 13.
His most recent victim was left needing professional help after the ordeal.
The court was told that the phone he used was discovered by a fellow prisoner containing messages for a teen chat app, including one which read: "Do you love me?"
The prosecution said Mills was engaging in a chat of a highly sexualised nature with the 13-year-old, and that he was aware of her age.
Forty-seven indecent images were found on the phone in prison.
The mother of the 13-year-old said in a statement that her daughter had self-harmed and required counselling after the conversations, which she said had "lured her to very dark places," and had damaged her confidence.
Mills admitted to engaging in sexual communication with a child, making indecent photographs of a child and possessing a phone in prison.
He also pleaded guilty to breaching a sexual harm prevention order, which had been imposed on him by Leicester Crown Court in 2011, by communicating with a child.
The judge told the court that he did not have sufficient information regarding Mills’ past convictions or an updated risk assessment for the criminal.
It comes after a rapist groomed a teenage girl online and sexually attacked her in Bradford.
Burhan Din, 30, was convicted at Bradford Crown Court of two counts of rape, four offences of sexual activity with a child and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
The court was told how Din, of no fixed address, contacted the girl through social media, before he went on a campaign of abuse, during which he filmed himself have sex with her on his phone.
Recorder Jason Pitter KC, said: "In very simple terms you deliberately and cynically groomed her."
The court was told that he was older than the girl by 12 years when the abuse began and he knew from an early stage that she was a child.
Din also admitted to being in possession of a machete and cannabis.
The rape offences occurred at his flat in Bradford, after he got the teenager drunk, jurors were told.
