Police are now appealing for help and information from members of the public
An eight-year-old girl and a man have been seriously injured in a shooting in Kensington, one of Britain's richest neighbourhoods, on Sunday.
Both were taken to hospital and the schoolgirl is now in a stable condition. A 32-year-old woman was also taken to hospital as a precaution.
Police are now appealing for help and information from members of the public.
Superintendent Owen Renowden, in charge of policing for Kensington and Chelsea, said: “This is an appalling incident that has left two people seriously injured, including a young girl who thankfully is in a stable condition this morning.
"I am appealing to the public who may have been in the area at the time of the shooting."
She continued: "We await an update on the condition of the man. We also await an update on the girl, but she does not have life-threatening injuries."
"If you saw anything, or have any information then please contact police on 101 stating CAD5238/24NOV or call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 to remain anonymous,"
Speaking near the scene of the shooting, Renowden said that a two-year-old child was also present in the car when the gunman opened fire, but the toddler was unhurt.
The eight-year-old girl is in surgery, although her injuries are not life-threatening and she is in a stable condition. The 34-year-old man has suffered potentially life-changing injuries. Renowden added that that the 22-year-old remains in custody.
Officers were called to Southern Row, Ladbroke Grove, just after 5.30pm following reports of a shooting.
Yesterday, police attended the scene of a horrific stabbing which took place along Westminster Police.
They arrived at 10.45am yesterday morning after a fight was said to have erupted in central London.
Soon after, the Met, along with the London Ambulance Service and London’s Air Ambulance, rushed to the scene to find a man suffering from a stab wound.
The man has now been hospitalised and remains in critical condition.
