Four other people arrested by Cleveland Police on Monday night have also been bailed
A 21-year-old man arrested over the investigation into events leading up to the fatal A66 crash has been charged with a drugs offence, Cleveland Police have confirmed.
Kai Inico, who was arrested on Monday night on suspicion of participating in an organised crime group, has been charged with possession with intent to supply a class B drug.
Four other people arrested by Cleveland Police on Monday night have also been bailed.
This includes a 16-year-old boy and 18-year-old man arrested on suspicion of participating in an organised crime group, a 55-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender and a 23-year-old man arrested on suspicion of threats to kill.
The town has become engulfed in violence and disorder since the fatal A66 crash early on Saturday, which killed PC Matthew Blades, 37, and PC Tom Clough, 38, along with five people in the Passat - Cole Worthy and Theo Rae, both 17, Makai Saddington, 18, and Michael Robert Cahill and Jakub Matusiak, both 23.
A Volkswagen Passat travelling in the wrong direction on the A66 collided with a police vehicle.
Police had been pursuing the Passat, but called off the chase after it turned on to the dual carriageway.
It later emerged that the home of Cole Worthy’s father had been rammed around 90 minutes before the fatal crash.
A total of nine people have died since Saturday amid a string of incidents in the area, with Natalie McDonald, 34, and her niece Valentina Foster having been killed in a fire on Wednesday.
A total of 19 people have been arrested as police investigate a series of incidents including suspected organised crime, firearms and drugs offences, threats to kill and murder.
Police are investigating possible links between the fire, a stabbing, a car ramming, and wider organised crime, but have not yet established whether the incidents are connected.
Yesterday evening, videos shared on social media appeared to show several cars on fire in Haswell.
According to reports, the event was being held to remember A66 crash victim Michael Cahill, 23, with footage showing a large crowd gathering on grassland while cars could be seen skidding around the area.
Later on Thursday, more videos shared online appeared to show burnt-out cars being moved from the field, 20 miles north of the crash site, by a tractor.
On Friday, remnants of fireworks, smoke canisters and balloons were scattered around a field where cars had been torched, with scorch marks visible on the ground.
