Delays and diversions to bus services were reported in the area
A Nottingham bus has been engulfed in flames as firefighters rush to the scene to extinguish the raging inferno.
The city's Fire and Rescue Service was called to the scene just after 6pm yesterday.
The large vehicle burst into flames on Woodborough Road in Mapperley.
Three crews and four firefighters wearing breathing apparatus extinguished the fire.
Videos taken yesterday evening that show flames erupting from a bus have circulated on social media.
Delays and diversions to bus services were reported in the area.
A Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue spokesman said: "Two crews from Stockhill and one from Arnold attended. Four firefighters in BA (Breathing Apparatus) extinguished the fire, and crews left."
It runs northeast from the city centre through St Ann's and Mapperley toward Mapperley Plains.
The road is home to the historic Woodborough Road Baptist Church, a distinct local red-brick landmark featuring a prominent clock tower.
The street also features a large local Co-op Store, along with various local shops, bakeries, and food venues such as KFC.
Over the last few years, other high-profile bus fires have occurred in the Greater Nottingham area.
In 2023, a Trentbarton Indigo bus was completely engulfed in flames on Regent Street in Beeston.
The driver successfully evacuated all passengers, but the resulting fire disrupted Nottingham Express Transit tram services between the University of Nottingham and Cator Lane.
A year prior, a trentbarton "red arrow" bus caught fire during morning service on the A52 westbound near Pride Park.
