Buildings across London, Penrith, Manchester and Blackpool have been illuminated
British buildings have been lit red, white and blue to commemorate 80th anniversary of VE Day.
The nation has united to mark the 80th anniversary of VE Day, with four-days of celebrations starting on May 5.
The commemorations honoured the millions who served in the Second World War across the UK and Commonwealth.
The illumination of the UK landmarks marks the conclusion of the second day of celebrations.
Events so far have included a military procession from Whitehall to Buckingham Palace, followed by a flypast featuring current and historic aircraft, including the Red Arrows.
The King and Queen, the Prince and Princess of Wales, and their three children were among those who joined Second World War veterans to watch the military procession and Red Arrows flyby.
Britons have also been urged to unite in streets, gardens, town halls, clubs, and pubs, similar to how people marked the end of nearly six years of war 80 years ago.
Tonight's illumination also comes after 30,000 ceramic poppies were installed at the Tower of London.
The display, first planted to mark the centenary of the First World War in 2014, will return to the historic fortress.
