Sixteen people have been killed with a further 28 injured in a bus crash in Egypt, the country's health ministry has confirmed.
The incident happened on Egypt's Dahab-Nuweibaa road in South Sinai, a popular holiday destination, particularly for diving and snorkelling in the Red Sea.
Egypt's health minister said the bus had rolled over, with 16 people pronounced dead at the scene and a further 28 taken to hospital for treatment.
Egypt's health minister Dr Khaled Abdel Ghaffar said all measures were being taken "to provide the highest level of medical care to the injured, to provide all necessary supplies and medicines, and to maintain continuous coordination with the relevant authorities in South Sinai Governorate".
A spokesman for the health ministry said: "As soon as the report was received, the central operations room was activated, and 20 ambulances were directed to the scene of the accident to evacuate the injured and provide first aid."
They added that all medical staff at the scene were operating "at full capacity to handle the incident with the utmost efficiency and speed".
The health ministry said it "extends its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wishes a speedy recovery to all the injured".
It is currently unknown the cause of the bus crash and where the bus was going.

The road in which the crash happened runs along the east coast of the South Sinai peninsula.
It is located in between the town of Dahab and Nuweibaa.

Last month, at least 15 people were killed and 32 injured in a road accident in Egypt's Ismailia Governorate.
This happened when two pick-up trucks collided and overturned in the Al-Dawawis area in Ismailia on August 12.
Many of those killed were children.
The incident triggered a major emergency response involving 30 ambulances.
The trucks had been transporting workers from two villages in Sharqiya to a farm in Ismailia, with dangerously overcrowded pickups commonly used as transport for informal labourers in the country.
A medical source told AFP that most of the victims were aged 13 and 14, with the youngest confirmed as just 10 years old.
Families gathered outside Al Qasasin Specialized Hospital awaiting news of loved ones.
One survivor, 16-year-old Jomana Waleed, described her sister's final words before she died, recalling: "She said I want to see mama. And then she stopped breathing, she was dead."
Egypt's Ministry of Labour pledged financial support for affected families, while President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi ordered an investigation into the crash.
