A retired grandmother from Canada has scooped a $100,000 lottery prize on a date that already held special significance for her family.
Cathy, of Petawawa in Ontario, secured the windfall in the Lotto 6/49 Encore draw held on June 10, 2026.
It came on the same day she and her husband marked 37 years of marriage.
The mother of five with 14 grandchildren described her experience to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation as "amazing and overwhelming".
Encore is an add-on lottery game that, for or $1 per play, offers players an extra chance to win additional prize funds on their ticket.
"I always add Encore to my tickets," she explained whilst collecting her cheque at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto.
"When I first checked my ticket using the OLG app on my phone, I didn't believe it.
"I thought the app was broken!"
