Swedish police have descended on a school after "loud bangs" were heard.

A suspected perpetrator was seen running from Ronnaskolan school in Södertälje, according to sources.


They also report that one person had been shot and injured.

The victim’s condition is unknown.

Police and ambulance services were called to the scene at around 7:30 pm today.

A police operation is currently underway.

Police spokesman Robert Sennerdahl said: "We have initiated an operation there and there is suspicion of a crime.

"We have information that bangs were heard and that is something we are investigating."

Local media reports that two young people have been arrested.

It is unknown whether they attended the school.

The number of shots and whether the gunfire occurred inside the school remain under investigation.
