The six suspected illegal entrants were located and detained under immigration offences

An Italian national and Romanian national have appeared in court this morning after six migrants were found in the back of a lorry in Goole, East Yorkshire.

Police were called to Anderson Road in the town of Goole at around 6pm on Tuesday, August 18, following reports that people believed to have entered the country illegally were inside a lorry.

A significant police presence was seen in the area as officers responded to the incident, with Humberside Police now confirming that six people were located and detained under immigration offences.

A 27-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman have also been charged with helping asylum seekers enter the UK.

Florin Anghel, 27, who is Italian and Tita Istrate, 24, who is Romanian, have been charged with doing an act to facilitate the commission of a breach of UK immigrational law by a non-UK national.

Both have been remanded into custody to appear at Hull Magistrates Court this morning, Thursday, 20 August 2026.
