Nearly all of GB News' programmes recorded triple-digit and double-digit audience growth year-on-year

GB News Radio is celebrating its best-ever audience results, securing record-breaking annual growth unmatched by any other national radio station or network.

Latest RAJAR results show GB News Radio's reach was up by 34 per cent year-on-year to 731,000 listeners, and up eight per cent quarter-on-quarter.

That is nearly three times greater than Talk's 11.5 per cent growth, and almost five times higher than Times Radio, which grew by 7 per cent.

The growth of GB News Radio was even more pronounced in terms of hours listened, with people now tuning in for 5.4 million hours a week, up by 78 per cent compared with a year ago, and 24 per cent ahead of the previous quarter.

That is a long way ahead of LBC, which fell by one per cent in comparison, and BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Radio 4, which both grew by one per cent.

GB News Radio's weekly audience of 731,000 is now way ahead of Talk with 543,000 listeners and Times Radio with 660,000.

The performance of individual shows was spectacular, with the station's massive growth driven by breakfast to late afternoon during the week and from breakfast to early afternoon at the weekends.

Nearly all of its programmes recorded triple-digit and double-digit audience growth year-on-year, and GB News' weekday Breakfast show is now the fastest-growing show in news-talk radio.

The key highlights, in terms of year-on-year rises, include:

The Camilla Tominey Show (Sundays): up 155 per cent;

Alex Armstrong Tonight Late Edition (Saturdays): up 155 per cent;

Listening by main shoppers, who now account for 91 per cent of total listening, increased by 86 per cent year-on-year, while ABC1 listening is up by 70 per cent compared with the same period last year.

Commenting on the latest figures, GB News' Head of Programming and Talent, Ben Briscoe, said: "These record-breaking results underline the staggering and continued growth of GB News Radio.

"These outstanding results show that GB News continues to pull further ahead of the competition: clear proof of the quality of our journalism and how deeply our coverage resonates with our loyal audience.

"We look forward to welcoming many new viewers and listeners in the months ahead. I'd also like to thank our reporters, producers and presenters whose hard work powers our growth and keeps our audience tuning in, in ever greater numbers."

The success of GB News Radio is mirrored by its TV ratings performance. The latest audience data from BARB earlier this month revealed that the People's Channel has marked a full year as Britain's number one news channel.

BARB data for July shows GB News secured 81,600 average views (1.44 per cent audience share), which is 11 per cent higher than the BBC News Channel's 73,500 average views (1.29 per cent audience share). Sky News was a distant third on 68,900 (1.21 per cent audience share), trailing 18.4 per cent behind GB News.

Over the 12-month period from August 2025 to July 2026, GB News averaged around 90,900 views (1.51 per cent share), which puts it 9.7 per cent ahead of the BBC News Channel's 82,400 (1.37 per cent share) and 25 per cent ahead of Sky News' 72,300 (1.21 per cent share).

GB News has won a string of awards for its coverage this year. In July, it was named Best News Programme of the Year at the National Reality TV Awards.

In June, GB News claimed the TRIC Award for Best News Programme for the fourth year running, beating BBC Breakfast, Good Morning Britain and ITV Evening News at the 2026 Television and Radio Industries Club Awards at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.

In April, the channel was named Start-Up of the Year at the Campaign Media Company of the Year Awards 2026, in recognition of its rapid growth and impact on the UK media landscape.
