GB News proudly celebrated one year since the launch of its Washington DC bureau this week by bringing the great and the good of American politics together under one roof.

On Wednesday night, the People’s Channel celebrated an incredible year in the United States with a drinks reception at Cafe Milano – a venue the Washington Post once described as being the “ultimate place to see and be seen” in the US capital.

The restaurant – which has hosted nearly every major US president, foreign leader, diplomat and celebrity since opening in 1992 – was decorated to the nines with Union Jack and US flags to celebrate the success of GB News’ US current affairs programme.

Guests including White House border tsar Tom Homan, British ambassador Christian Turner and Diplomacy Secretary Sarah Rogers enjoyed complimentary glasses of champagne and cocktails while being treated to a keynote speech from Reform UK leader Nigel Farage.

Also in attendance were Late Show Live presenters Bev Turner, who has conducted two world-exclusive interviews with President Donald Trump over the past 12 months, and Ben Leo, whose on-the-ground reporting at ICE detention centres and demonstrations has gripped audiences on both sides of the Atlantic.

Praising Britain’s News Channel for shaking up the media landscape, Mr Farage said: “It’s important that our country — and Europe too — gets a better, more sensible view of America and of the Trump administration than it gets through traditional mainstream media, who frankly paint the whole project out to be villainous.”

The channel’s chairman Alan McCormick added: “A year ago, we stood before you and we announced our launch here. Our goal was to build a bridge between the United Kingdom and the United States. And a year later, I'm pleased to report we've done that, and we've had an amazing year.

“We at GB News don't just measure our viewing, our success, by viewing things alone. Our mission remains to provide truthful, fearless journalism. Our goal is to reawaken Britain, to remind the nation who it can be.”
