Donald Trump has backed calls to rename an entire US state "New America" as the President continues his geographical rebranding drive.
The President threw his weight behind changing the name of New Mexico in a new Truth Social post, describing the proposed replacement as "so much more prestigious and beautiful".
Mr Trump wrote: "Many people suggested changing the name of New Mexico, one of the great vote cheating states of all time, to New America.
"So much more prestigious and beautiful for the people of that potentially incredible state. Wow, I love It!"
The intervention came shortly after Mr Trump shared a map of New Mexico showing the word "Mexico" dramatically crossed out in red.
"America" had instead been written underneath, transforming the southwestern state's name into "New America".
His latest post removes some of the ambiguity surrounding the earlier image, with the President now explicitly endorsing the proposed new name.
However, the White House has yet to announce any formal attempt to change the state's name.

New Mexico's name stretches back centuries and predates both its admission to the US and the establishment of modern-day Mexico.
Spanish explorers used the name "Nuevo México" for the region from the late 16th century.
Mr Trump's intervention has already provoked a furious response from Democrats in New Mexico.
Democrat Congressman Gabe Vasquez said: "You don’t get to erase New Mexico. Not our name. Not our history. Not our culture."

He added: "The President may want to call us 'New America,' but we know who we are."
Mr Trump's intervention marks the latest instalment in his efforts to replace geographical names with more explicitly American alternatives.
Shortly after returning to the White House, the President signed an executive order directing the federal government to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the "Gulf of America".
His attention later turned north as relations between Washington and Ottawa dramatically deteriorated.

The order instructed the Interior Department to update the Geographic Names Information System to reflect the change "effective immediately".
The move came amid a bitter trade dispute between the US and Canada.
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney rejected the rebrand, insisting: "Canadians also know that naming reality means calling it Lake Ontario - then, now and always."
Mr Trump has since continued to promote "Lake America" through social media posts and official merchandise.
The President has shared an AI-generated video depicting himself knocking over a "Lake Ontario" sign and replacing it with one bearing the new name.
His official Trump Store has also begun selling "Lake America" caps for $55.
