Robert Jenrick has hit out at the political "stitch up" of Nigel Farage following his resignation as Clacton MP, triggering a by-election.
Criticising Reform UK's rival parties for failing to field a candidate in the ballot, Mr Jenrick told GB News: "This is a massive gamble by Nigel. He's giving up the job he loves, the constituency he has been proud to represent for the last two years, to make the choice now for the public.
"Do they want the establishment to win, the old parties in Westminster, their acolytes in the media who've been trying to be judge, jury and executioner of Nigel? Or the people of Clacton, and we say this is a democracy is up to the people of Clacton to decide.
"We all know why people are out to get Nigel, because he represents change. He is the only person who is going to bring about the change that this country needs, and that is why the whole cosy consensus in Westminster is trying to stop him."
