A second by-election could be called if the Parliamentary Standards decides against Nigel Farage

Zia Yusuf has torn into “conspiring” political rivals after Labour was told to stand aside in a possible second Clacton by-election to allow the Conservatives to oust Nigel Farage.

It was revealed on Friday that senior Conservative officials had hoped Andy Burnham would not put forward a candidate in order to unite an anti-Nigel Farage vote.

There could be a second by-election in Clacton in the coming months if the Reform UK leader is found guilty by the Parliamentary Standards Commissioner.

When he was reelected as an MP on Friday, the investigation into his £5million donation was reopened.

Mr Yusuf has hit back at his political rivals on social media.

He said: “The obvious, natural party for the dying Tory Party to do a deal with is Labour.

“The uniparty operate the same open borders, eyewatering tax policies.

“They will keep conspiring against the interests of the British people.”

The comments come after a senior Conservative source told The Telegraph: “If Burnham was sensible, he’d obviously stand aside in the next by-election.

“Labour don’t stand a chance, and Binface’s numbers show there’s a sizeable anti-Farage vote in Clacton.

“Either way, Kemi’s been clear she wants to throw everything at it.

“Reform’s laughable overselling of Farage’s poor performance on Thursday shows they’re clearly worried this isn’t over.”

The Telegraph reports that the Tories have already begun drawing up a list of political candidates to take on Mr Farage should a by-election be triggered.

A source said: “You can’t just have a local councillor or something.

“We want a proper public servant as a contrast to Farage, who has been filling his boots with crypto cash.”

Mr Farage predicted he had won “very convincingly”, saying he had beaten “Establishment candidate" Count Binface, the comedy writer named Jonathan Harvey backed by Labour, Tory and Lib Dem canvassers in Clacton.

“My voters are ordinary folk... Working people who get up early in the morning, go to work and are sick of the way this country is going and see me as a champion for their views,” he said.

“If you threaten my family, threaten the safety of my daughter, drive another member of my family into hiding... Am I angry? I'm very angry,” he said.
