In today's GB News Daily Reflection, we question whether we have a purpose or calling.
"Many of us wrestle with that question from time to time, and society generally encourages us to look within for the answers. Look at our gifts, our passions, our desires.
"It's striking when Jesus Christ encountered his disciples after his Easter resurrection. He said, as the Father has sent me, so do I send you. Those first disciples had a unique calling to be apostles of the risen Jesus, but it is the privilege of all Christian disciples to be sent ones of the sent one.
"For me, I had small seeds of a leading towards pastoral ministry even as early as six-years-old, which picked up at various points while I was growing up. I never told a single soul.
"Then, as a student, my pastor approached me and said, have you considered pastoral ministry? I think you should test it and see if this is what God might be calling you to. And that one conversation that summer afternoon led to a series of steps and opening doors, most of which were very unremarkable, by which God clarified his leading of my life.
"I think the amazing thing for all who follow Christ is it's not a question of am I called? But where am I being sent? Sent by the one who was sent from heaven to earth to seek and save the lost. Now that's an amazing calling."
