Princess Beatrice's husband made a rare tribute to his wife of six years
Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi took a leaf out of Prince William and the Princess of Wales's playbook this weekend.
Mr Mapelli Mozzi marked his wife, Princess Beatrice's, 38th birthday on Saturday by posting four photographs of the pair together.
The Instagram pictures included casual selfies alongside a behind-the-scenes snap from the June wedding of Beatrice's cousin Peter Phillips.
The 42-year-old property developer captioned the tribute: "Happy Birthday to my phenomenal, beautiful wife. We love so much. You make our world."
He concluded the message with: "Love E, W, S, A xxxx 8.8.88". The numbers represent Princess Beatrice's birthday: August 8, 1988.
Meanwhile, the letters stand for Edoardo, his 10-year-old son Christopher Woolf (known as "Wolfie") from a previous relationship with Dara Huang, and the two daughters he shares with Beatrice: four-year-old Sienna and one-year-old Athena.
That specific sign-off echoes a practice favoured by the Prince and Princess of Wales.
William and Catherine routinely add their own initials, and those of Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, to social media posts they have personally composed, distinguishing them from messages drafted by Palace staff.
The technique was on display as recently as June, when a photograph of William and Charlotte was published on the couple's joint account to mark both his 44th birthday and Father's Day.
The accompanying caption read: "Happy birthday and Father's Day to the best Papa in the World! We love you very much. C, G, C & L."
By adopting the same approach, Mr Mapelli Mozzi appears to have taken a leaf out of his wife's cousin's social media playbook.
The birthday post followed an interview Mr Mapelli Mozzi gave to Gentleman's Journal, in which he repeatedly stressed the importance of family.
Asked to describe his ideal holiday, he said it involved "getting off the beaten track, disconnecting from emails and news and spending time with my family."
He also cited time with loved ones as both his greatest luxury and his preferred way to unwind.
The Mapelli Mozzis have also appeared keen to present a united front in recent weeks.
In late July, just days after their sixth wedding anniversary, Beatrice and her husband were pictured beaming together during a holiday in Greece.
The photograph, shared on social media by art curator Aliki Lampropoulos, showed the pair looking relaxed and cheerful alongside their host.
Those public displays of togetherness came after a period of unwelcome speculation about the state of their marriage.
A source close to the couple dismissed the claims to People at the time, calling the rumours "complete nonsense."
