Prince Harry and Prince William could meet again to mark the 30th anniversary of the death of their mother, Princess Diana, next year.

Despite Harry's apparent "grovelling" during his return to the UK earlier this month - in which he reunited King Charles with his estranged grandchildren at Highgrove - the brothers are understood not to have spoken in person since the late Queen's funeral in 2022.

The Diana Award charity is believed to be orchestrating a series of events to commemorate the 30th anniversary of Princess Diana's death in 2027, according to reports in The Mail on Sunday.

Both Harry and William serve as patrons for the charity, which was established in Diana's memory. It is the sole remaining patronage the brothers continue to share.

A lavish black-tie gala is expected to serve as the centrepiece of the programme, honouring three decades since the Princess of Wales died.

The gala is anticipated to align with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's visit to Birmingham next summer for the Invictus Games, the sporting tournament founded by Harry for wounded veterans.

Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams told GB News it is "of course a possibility" that the brothers could be reunited, noting that both Harry and William unveiled the Diana statue in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace five years ago - though much has changed since then.

A decade ago, the task was simpler. When the 20th anniversary arrived in 2017, William and Harry appeared side by side at a prominent Diana Award ceremony held at St James's Palace.

By March 2024, the landscape had shifted considerably. William attended an event celebrating the charity's 25th year in person, while Harry contributed separately through a video link. Annual awards ceremonies have since been conducted virtually, though next year's events will return to an in-person format.

There is also speculation that the Duchess of Sussex may be present at the events.

A source told The Mail on Sunday: "Harry wants Meghan to be part of it, to be closer to his mother's legacy."

Meanwhile, Mr Fitzwilliams suggested that there had been "rumours Netflix was interested in Harry being involved with a documentary to mark 30 years since her death".

The relationship between the brothers - or lack of - was for all to see during Harry's recent trip to the UK.

As the Sussexes met with King Charles and Queen Camilla at Highgrove, William participated in the DMMI Royal Charity Polo Cup at Guards Polo Club in Windsor, emphatically supported by Catherine, and just a short trip down the M4 from his father's private estate in Gloucestershire.

This is a gesture that Mr Fitzwilliams told the People's Channel "was deliberate" and that he made his point "clear".

The royal commentator added: "It’s fundamentally a matter of trust. At present, William doesn’t trust them. In the future, it seems unlikely but who knows?"

The Diana Award confirmed that preparations remain at a preliminary stage.

A spokesman stated: "No plans have been agreed and no decisions have been made regarding attendance or participation."
