Sandringham estate will once again host the traditional royal festivities

The King and Queen have arrived in Sandringham alongside other Royal Family members to celebrate Christmas Day together.

They have been joined by the Prince and Princess of Wales and their children Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis for morning service at St Mary Magdalene Church.

Prince Andrew and his ex-wife Sarah Ferguson have been spotted attending the Royal Family's festive church service.

It is the first time that Ferguson has attended the service since 1992.

Meanwhile, it is Andrew's second year in succession that he has walked to the church alongside his family.

Royal onlookers gathered to watch the family en route to St Mary Magdalene Church.

Many had gathered for hours to catch a glimpse of the famous family, with some coming from as far as the US.

The Princess Royal, Princess Eugenie and the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were also among those seen arriving at the church.

Yesterday, the King and the Queen, alongside the Princess Royal and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence, waved to onlookers as they attended a Christmas Eve church service.

Last year, the royals returned to the Norfolk estate to celebrate Christmas together for the first time since 2019, due to restrictions as a result of the pandemic.

Sandringham House has been their private home for over 160 years, housing four generations of royals.

It now belongs to the King, and he is continuing his late mother's tradition of hosting Christmas celebrations at the property.

A traditional Royal Christmas will feature the family members greeting members of the public, then a church service, followed by a festive lunch with turkey and all the trimmings.

At 3pm, the King will address the public in his second Christmas message as monarch.

Like his mother, Charles writes his own festive broadcasts and in it, will reflect on the past year.

The speech this year was recorded in the Centre Room in Buckingham Palace which leads on to the royal residence’s iconic balcony.

The room is decorated with a living Christmas tree which will be replanted after the broadcast.
