During her gap year, Louise will be doing a mixture of working, volunteering and travelling

Lady Louise Windsor graduated from the University of St Andrews today, marking the conclusion of her four-year English and International Relations degree.

The 22-year-old royal, who enrolled at the prestigious Scottish institution in 2022, collected her diploma at the 10.30am ceremony this morning.

Students from the School of English received their degrees alongside those from the School of Divinity, Mathematics and Statistics, and the International Education and Lifelong Learning Institute.

The graduation ceremonies at St Andrews commenced on June 29 and will wrap up tomorrow, with Lady Louise among today's cohort of graduates.

The Duchess of Edinburgh was among the family members watching Lady Louise receive her degree, having no official royal duties scheduled for today.

Prince Edward was already in Scotland on Wednesday, attending the Thistle Service at St Giles' Cathedral before visiting the Scottish Outdoor Education Centre Belmont, placing him within easy travelling distance of the university.

Lady Louise's younger brother, James, Earl of Wessex, was also anticipated to attend the ceremony, with his A-Level examinations at Radley College having finished on June 23.

The 17-year-old boarded at the Oxfordshire independent school.

During her gap year, Louise will be doing a mixture of working, volunteering and travelling.

On Friday, Lady Louise will receive her Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award from her father, alongside hundreds of other remarkable young people at a special celebration at the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

Louise accomplished this in the 70th anniversary year of the Award founded by her late grandfather.

This year also marks 40 years of Prince Edward’s involvement in championing the Award and its benefit in empowering young people to reach their full potential.

Throughout her time at St Andrews, Lady Louise balanced academic pursuits with a range of extracurricular activities.

In 2024, she enlisted in the Tayforth University Officers' Training Corps, an Army Reserve unit open to students in the area, where she currently serves as an Officer Cadet.

The young royal also took on a part-time position serving food in the university cafeteria, demonstrating a down-to-earth approach to student life.

Beyond her military and work commitments, she threw herself into the arts, performing in student theatre productions and embracing Scottish culture through traditional reeling.

Lady Louise's time at St Andrews also brought romance, with the royal now in a relationship with fellow student Felix da Silva-Clamp.

The pair first crossed paths approximately two years ago when both were cast in a university theatre production, bonding over their shared love of drama.

Mr Silva-Clamp, who is half-Australian, has become a familiar face at Lady Louise's carriage-driving competitions, where spectators have observed him cheering enthusiastically from the sidelines.

He has also been seen alongside the Duchess of Edinburgh and Penny Knatchbull while supporting Lady Louise at events including the National Carriage Driving Championships. Those close to the couple describe them as grounded and private.
