The Duchess of Sussex discussed her favourite biscuits, childhood advice and lessons

The Duchess of Sussex surprised a young Girl Scout interviewer during a promotional Q&A session by revealing how she eats her favourite Girl Scout cookies.

While discussing preferred cookie varieties alongside documentary filmmaker Alysa Nahmias, both women named Thin Mints as their top choice, with Ms Nahmias adding that Lemonades had also won her over.

However, Meghan Markle disclosed her personal preference for eating the treats, stating: "I like to dip them in jam."

The admission left young interviewer Shannon-Elizabeth taken aback during the discussion.

"I've never heard someone do that," the scout responded. Elaborating further on her technique, the duchess suggested: "Or sandwich them together with jam in between."

Meghan, 45, became associated with jam after launching her lifestyle brand, As ever, in 2025.

Its original launch product was Raspberry Spread, later joined by Strawberry Spread and Orange Marmalade.

The fruit spreads are sold individually for $12 (£9–£10), with gift sets such as the Fruit Spread Trio (raspberry, orange marmalade and strawberry) priced at $36 (£28–£29).

The brand has also expanded into products including Sage Honey with Honeycomb ($32/around £25), herbal teas ($14/around £11), Flower Sprinkles ($15/around £12), candles and other lifestyle goods.

The BuzzFeed Tasty exchange between the Duchess of Sussex and the young Girl Scout occurred during promotional activities for Cookie Queens, a coming-of-age documentary executive produced by Meghan and Prince Harry through their media outfit, Archewell Productions.

The film follows Shannon-Elizabeth alongside fellow scouts Niki and Olive as they navigate the high-pressure environment of the annual cookie-selling season, developing self-confidence, leadership abilities, and financial literacy skills.

The project holds structural significance for Archewell Productions as it marks the production company's debut theatrical release, opening in cinemas across the United States on Friday, August 7.

LATEST ROYAL DEVELOPMENTS

As part of the promotional activity, Meghan, Ms Nahmias, and the three scouts participated in a collaborative session filmed inside the BuzzFeed Tasty Studio.

Working alongside the studio's culinary team, the group brainstormed ingredients, selected a flavour profile, and developed a dedicated sales pitch for an entirely new cookie creation, which they christened "Berrylicious Badges."

During the baking process, the three scouts posed several questions to Meghan and Ms Nahmias regarding life lessons and personal growth.

When asked to share a piece of childhood advice that continues to guide her today, the duchess recalled a phrase delivered by one of her former schoolteachers: "Keep a good heart."

She explained that the line serves as a simple reminder to keep in mind regardless of the situation.

When the scouts inquired about what adults can learn from younger generations, Ms Nahmias commended the girls' willingness to pose challenging questions and their persistence in striving to make the world a better place.

Meghan expanded on the sentiment, praising the scouts for actively turning their words into tangible action, noting, "You're putting the dos behind the says.

"You're actually doing things to make it better. You're coming together as a team to make it better. That part is so inspiring."
