The Duchess of Sussex shared 11 photographs from the family's summer getaway

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been confirmed as having holidayed in Melides, Portugal, after months of speculation about the couple's ties to the coastal town south of Lisbon.

The disclosure came not through any official statement but via 11 photographs the Duchess of Sussex posted to her Instagram account this evening, captioned "Summer holiday" with a sun emoji.

One image clearly shows a menu from O Melidense, a beachfront restaurant in the town sometimes referred to as the "Hamptons of Portugal."

The Sussexes have never publicly acknowledged their reported connection to the area.

People reported in 2024 that the couple had purchased a holiday home there, and the Mail has since claimed the property is undergoing interior renovations.

Harry's cousin Princess Eugenie and her husband Jack Brooksbank own a property at the nearby CostaTerra Golf and Ocean Club in Comporta, which has long fuelled speculation about the Sussexes' presence in the region.

The photographs show the couple with their children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five, on the beach and by a pool.

One image shows Harry, wearing a cap, tossing Lilibet into the air over a swimming pool.

Archie is pictured in the cockpit of a plane in one shot and holding a stick at sunset in another. A separate photo shows the couple laughing over red wine at dinner.

The Portuguese trip preceded the family's visit to Highgrove, where they were reunited with King Charles, a meeting confirmed by Buckingham Palace.

It marked the first time the monarch had seen his grandchildren since their visit for Queen Elizabeth's Platinum Jubilee in 2022.

Meghan has kept a low public profile since a trip to Geneva in May.

She had been due to join Harry at Invictus Games One Year to Go events in Birmingham but pulled out citing security concerns.

Harry was in New York last week for the Time100 Sports Gala and appeared on After Hours with James Corden after the World Cup finals on Sunday.
