A shopper found the once-grand display reduced to a small table with limited stock

Meghan Markle's As ever pop-up inside a Montecito bookshop appears to have been scaled back, according to a customer who visited recently.

The display at Godmothers, an upmarket shop situated near the Duke and Duchess of Sussex's £11million California home, originally took up a substantial portion of the store's upper floor.

The duchess had personally arranged the initial installation, which included candles, wine, jam, tea and edible flower sprinkles.

However, a shopper who stopped by within the past week reported that the once-expansive presentation had been reduced to a modest table roughly the size of a small school desk, with several product lines, most notably Meghan's much-discussed jams, absent.

The anonymous shopper took to social media to describe her findings, noting: "I went into the room upstairs, and there was no sign of the stuff on the three-tier wall display."

She observed that no banners or signage directed customers towards the As ever range.

What remained on the table included three chocolate boxes produced in collaboration with premium Los Angeles chocolatier Compartés, seven candles, one honey set, and a large glass bowl containing tins of dried-flower sprinkles, alongside a promotional photograph of the duchess.

Meghan's jams, including the blackberry fruit spread launched this month, were absent. "No spreads, bookmarks, variety honey... No way they sold all this," the shopper claimed.

When she enquired discreetly, staff told her: "They refresh merchandise on a regular basis."

Staff at Godmothers appeared to confirm to the shopper that the reduced display was not the result of products having sold out.

The bookshop is owned by two of Harry and Meghan's Montecito neighbours: Jennifer Rudolph Walsh, a literary agent whose clients include Oprah Winfrey and Brené Brown, and Victoria Jackson, a cosmetics entrepreneur.

Both Meghan and Ms Winfrey were present at the shop's grand opening in 2024, turning out to support their friends.

The store is popular with celebrities in the affluent coastal community, and Meghan herself is known to be a regular visitor.

When the duchess originally established the pop-up last year, she filmed herself arranging the merchandise across a sizeable area on the upper level.

A source familiar with As ever told Newsweek in early 2026 that the lifestyle brand was poised to "double in size," adding: "By any measure, for any startup, you can't deny that is anything but a success."

GB News has reached out to both the Duchess of Sussex's spokeswoman and Godmothers bookshop for a comment.
