The Prince of Wales joked: 'We embarrass you enough as it is'
Prince George refused when asked whether he wanted to watch his parents take on a tandem bicycle at the Glasgow velodrome during Saturday's Commonwealth Games visit.
The moment arose after five-time Olympic champion Dame Laura Kenny encouraged the Prince and Princess of Wales to try their hand at cycling.
Catherine told Welsh television presenter Gethin Jones: "Be careful what you wish for as they want to put us on a tandem bike in the velodrome."
When Mr Jones put the question directly to the Wales children, the 13-year-old immediately responded: "No."
Catherine laughed at her eldest son's reaction, while William quipped: "We embarrass you enough as it is."
The family had paused their summer holiday for the penultimate day of the Games.
During the outing, the family spoke with bronze medal-winning gymnasts Abigail and Emily Roper. Catherine drew her youngest into the conversation, telling the athletes: "Louis, you're perfecting your handstand at the moment."
The eight-year-old, standing with his arms crossed, conceded "a bit" before adding: "Charlotte says I'm not very good."
His older sister, described as someone who "loves ballet and gymnastics," confirmed she could pull off a handstand successfully.
George was rather less confident about his own abilities, telling the gymnasts he was "rubbish with anything that involves flexibility."
The Waleses also sat down with Welsh athletes to discuss the Games and their children's school sports, marking a relaxed series of exchanges throughout the afternoon.
The family watched netball, cycling and judo across the day, with a closely fought netball match between Australia and Jamaica among the highlights. Scottish swimmer Archie Goodburn joined them after that fixture.
While the Prince and Princess of Wales stopped to speak with Games volunteers alongside George, his younger siblings made a beeline for the event's unicorn mascot, Finnie.
Charlotte waved at the character before stretching up to deliver an enthusiastic high five. Finnie responded by leaping into the air, then offered Louis the same greeting.
The visit marked the first time all three children have officially been pictured in Scotland, and the first occasion on which Louis, eight, has been old enough to attend a major sporting event.
George and Charlotte arrived in coordinating white outfits, he in a crisp white Ralph Lauren shirt, she in a button-up polka-dot dress from Guess.
Charlotte's hair, now falling well past her shoulders in a style reminiscent of her mother's, was worn loose for the occasion.
Louis opted for a pale blue short-sleeved shirt, also from Ralph Lauren, and was spotted at one point pressing a bucket hat down onto his head.
