The brothers' relationship deteriorated significantly after Megxit
Prince Harry's recent visit to the United Kingdom has strengthened his bond with King Charles, yet the fractured relationship with his brother, Prince William, remains unchanged, sources have claimed.
An insider has described the connection between the King's two sons as "so broken".
A source familiar with both royals expressed surprise at the continued impasse, stating: "I thought it would have perhaps eased a little bit by now, to be honest."
They continued to tell People: "But there has been no movement, especially on William's side. There is no contact."
The brothers, aged 44 and 41 respectively, appear no closer to reconciliation despite Harry's expressed desire for family harmony.
On July 7, the first day of Harry's trip, the siblings were separated by just 12 miles in London, though neither anticipated an encounter.
While the Duke of Sussex was in the capital, Prince William attended his annual charity polo event in Windsor alongside Catherine.
The brothers' relationship deteriorated significantly following Harry and Meghan Markle's decision to relinquish their royal duties in 2020.
The publication of Harry's memoir Spare in 2023, which offered candid revelations about his experiences within the institution, deepened the divide further still. What was once a notably close sibling bond has since become defined by distance and silence.
The estrangement now spans generations, with the Wales children having no connection to their California-based cousins.
Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Prince Louis, eight, are understood to share no relationship with seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet.
Royal author Simon Vigar believes the late Princess Diana would be heartbroken by the situation. "[Princess] Diana would be devastated that it has turned out like this, particularly because [the brothers] were once so close," he told the publication.
The cousins, who are first cousins, have grown up on opposite sides of the Atlantic with no apparent contact between the two families.
Despite the ongoing estrangement from William, Harry's relationship with his father has shown marked improvement.
The Duke of Sussex initially travelled to Britain alone, with Meghan and their children joining from Portugal on July 9. The following day, the family met with King Charles and Queen Camilla for the first time in four years.
"The relationship is better," a source close to the situation confirmed.
Harry publicly expressed his hopes for healing in May 2025, telling the BBC: "I would love reconciliation with my family. There's no point in continuing to fight anymore."
