The Princess Royal last travelled to South Korea eight years ago when she attended the 2018 Winter Olympics

The Princess Royal and her husband, Sir Tim Laurence, will touch down in South Korea today, marking the start of a five-day diplomatic tour across Asia.

Princess Anne will spend three days in the Republic of Korea before travelling onwards to Thailand, where they will remain until Friday.

The visit encompasses a wide-ranging programme of official engagements designed to showcase the strong bilateral ties between Britain and both nations.

The tour represents a significant royal engagement in the region, with the itinerary spanning commemorative events, diplomatic meetings and visits highlighting partnerships across multiple sectors.

A central element of the Korean programme involves marking 75 years since the Battle of Imjin River, one of the most significant engagements involving British forces during the Korean War.

The Princess Royal will pay tribute to the British servicemen who made the ultimate sacrifice during the conflict.

Beyond the commemorative aspects, the schedule reflects the depth of contemporary UK-Korea relations across several key areas.

Engagements will spotlight collaboration in maritime manufacturing, cutting-edge technologies and academic research, alongside initiatives fostering connections between citizens of both countries.

The programme also incorporates causes and charitable organisations that the Princess Royal supports.

King Charles III welcomed the South Korean President for a State Visit in 2023, continuing a tradition of high-level exchanges that included similar visits in 2013 and 2004.

Upon arriving in Thailand on Thursday, the Princess Royal will visit a Bangkok school that receives support from Save the Children Thailand.

Anne is scheduled to meet with the Thai Prime Minister and will have an audience with Their Majesties The King and Queen of Thailand.

The programme includes an opportunity to pay respects to the late Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother.

Princess Anne will also meet with Thai women working in scientific fields and attend a showcase focused on regional health security.

The visit concludes with an event celebrating cultural collaboration between the UK and Thailand.

This marks the Princess Royal's fourth visit to Thailand, following previous trips in 1979 and 1987, as well as accompanying Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip in 1972.
