Princess Margaret frequented the wedding venue during her lifetime

Alice Naylor-Leyland marked her 40th birthday with a celebration at Villa Cetinale in Tuscany over the weekend, but her close friend Princess Beatrice appeared to skip the festivities.

The British socialite welcomed friends and family to the estate, including Lady Mary Charteris and model Poppy Delevingne.

However, Princess Beatrice, a business collaborator of Mrs Naylor-Leyland, was absent from photographs and videos posted online by attendees.

"We went full mambo Italiano celebrating @mrsalice on her birthday," Lady Mary wrote on social media.

Lady Mary wore a sheer gold gown by Annie's Ibiza, while Mrs Naylor-Leyland donned a gold sequinned dress. Daytime festivities saw guests and children enjoying the villa's pool.

The late Conservative MP, Lord Antony Lambton, acquired Villa Cetinale as a home for himself and his mistress, Claire Ward, in 1977.

The pair hosted a string of famous visitors during their time there, among them Princess Margaret and Mick Jagger.

The six-bedroom residence is now in the hands of Lord Lambton's son Ned, who enlisted Camilla Guinness to redesign the interiors. It later served as a filming location for the television series Succession.

The property, which can be rented by holidaymakers, features a world-renowned garden, its own chapel, hermitage and holy wood.

Its grounds contain seven votive chapels, 16 full-length statues, 29 busts, and numerous stone animals and monsters.

Beyond her social life, Mrs Naylor-Leyland founded Mrs Alice in 2019 alongside her mother, Serena Fresson, initially offering a "tablescape in a box" kit containing placemats, linens, decorations and Christmas crackers.

The venture proved an immediate hit, turning over £2million in its debut year. American customers have since become the brand's largest market, representing 65 per cent of total sales as of last year.

"People want the whole look," Mrs Naylor-Leyland told The Telegraph, noting that the average order comprises nine items.

Her collaborators have included Marie Chantal of Greece, Poppy Delevingne and Erin O'Connor.

She also teamed up with Princess Beatrice on a tablescape range supporting Borne, a charity dedicated to ending premature birth.

Beatrice's youngest child, Athena Mapelli Mozzi, was born prematurely on January 22, 2025, weighing 4lb 5oz.

Mrs Naylor-Leyland is married to Tom Naylor-Leyland, the eldest son of Baronet Sir Philip Naylor-Leyland and heir to the £176million Fitzwilliam landowning fortune. The family's extensive estates include the 17th-century Nantclwyd Hall in Denbighshire, Wales.

The couple met when Mrs Naylor-Leyland was just 16 at a party thrown by Lady Mary Charteris.

They began a relationship five years later and married when Mrs Naylor-Leyland was 24. Together they have four children.

A longstanding contributor to both Vogue and Harper's Bazaar, Mrs Naylor-Leyland has also worked as an interior designer.
