Princess Catharina-Amalia, the 22-year-old heir to the Dutch throne, showed her arm scar publicly for the first time on Tuesday evening at the opening gala of the 2026 FEI World Championships in Aachen.
The eldest child of King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima chose a sleeveless white and green striped dress by designer Nina Blanc, which left a prominent scar on her upper arm clearly visible.
She was joined at the event by fellow royals, among them Denmark's Queen Mary and Zara Tindall.
The princess displayed the mark of her injury with confidence, demonstrating no desire to conceal it.
Last June, Amalia fell from her horse, Mojito, sustaining a broken upper arm. She was taken to UMC Utrecht, where she underwent an operation before being released from hospital two days later.
In the weeks that followed, the princess was frequently spotted with her arm supported in a sling.
At the time of the incident, the Dutch royal household issued a statement: "The Princess of Orange broke her upper arm today after falling from her horse. She will undergo surgery at the UMC Utrecht."
The palace added that further updates would be provided once the implications for official duties and other commitments became apparent.
A lifelong equestrian who has been riding since childhood, Amalia's attendance at the championships underscored her enduring passion for the sport despite last year's accident.

Earlier in 2026, the princess finished a placement as a military working student with the Royal Air Force, a significant milestone in her preparation for her eventual role as queen.
She is currently pursuing her studies at the Defence College whilst simultaneously reading law at the University of Amsterdam, balancing her academic commitments with royal responsibilities.
