The Princess and the Prince of Wales became Joint Patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in 2025
Catherine returned to The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust today to learn how money generated by her National Three Peaks Challenge will help transform care for cancer patients nationwide.
Her visit focused on plans for a new specialist Centre for Holistic Wellbeing and Recovery, which will be funded in part through the proceeds of her gruelling June fundraiser.
Catherine was shown the proposed building site and received an update on how the project is progressing.
In June, the Princess of Wales summited the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales in under 24 hours, undertaking the challenge to raise awareness of holistic approaches to cancer treatment and to generate funds for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.
The Royal Marsden, a specialist cancer centre, advocates whole-person treatment that goes beyond clinical care alone.
Proceeds from the challenge will not only support construction of the new centre but also fund research into how complementary therapies alongside conventional medicine can benefit cancer patients throughout the country.
During her visit, the Princess spoke with patients currently receiving treatment and heard how integrating physical, emotional, spiritual and social wellbeing into cancer care can aid recovery and healing.
The Princess and the Prince of Wales became Joint Patrons of The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust in 2025.
The appointment held particular personal significance for the Princess of Wales, who had herself been treated at the hospital during her own cancer journey, an experience that deepened her commitment to improving support for others facing a diagnosis.
The engagement comes just one day after the Princess of Wales supported Prince William during a poignant engagement in Liverpool.
The Prince of Wales unveiled a new suicide prevention resource at Hill Dickinson stadium, bringing together the worlds of sport and mental health in a landmark initiative.
The toolkit, titled 'On Your Side', has been created by The Royal Foundation in collaboration with the British Standards Institution and the charity Chasing the Stigma.
Its central aim is to harness the influence of the sporting sector to boost awareness around suicide prevention and empower people to have open conversations about the subject.
The Prince of Wales gathered figures from across the sporting landscape for the launch event.
Among those present at the event were Dame Kelly Holmes MBE, broadcaster Gabby Logan OBE, boxer Campbell Hatton, former Lioness Jill Scott MBE and Dame Laura Kenny.
A roster of major sporting bodies have pledged their support as toolkit champions, including the Football Association, the Premier League, England Rugby, British Cycling, the British Horseracing Authority, Paralympics GB, Team GB and the Women's Super League.
The Princess of Wales chose to attend the launch alongside her husband to demonstrate her personal backing for the initiative.
