Elliot Anderson has become the most expensive British player ever as Manchester City fork out a staggering £116million.
The Englishman joins from Nottingham Forest after having a fantastic season at the City Ground.
The deal sees Anderson surpass the £115m paid for Jude Bellingham by Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2023.
Only Liverpool's signings last summer of Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz sit higher than Anderson, with Isak costing £125m and Writz £116.5m.
Anderson was given clearance by England to complete his medical with City on Sunday, in between World Cup games.
City said in a statement: "Manchester City and Nottingham Forest have reached an agreement for the transfer of Elliot Anderson.
"Anderson, 23, is currently competing at the Fifa World Cup with England and has completed a medical in Kansas.
"The formalities of the move will be finalised upon his return to England.

"In the meantime, everyone at Manchester City wishes Elliot and the England squad the very best of luck in their World Cup campaign, and we look forward to welcoming him to Manchester in due course."
Anderson started 37 of 38 games last season, scoring four goals and registering four assists.
The Englishman becomes the first signing under new City boss Enzo Maresca, after the Italian was confirmed to take over from Pep Guardiola.
Maresca, who spent a season and a half at Chelsea, said he will pay the club compensation after he told the Blues he was pushing a move to the Etihad.

"I recognise that my departure from Chelsea in the middle of the season caused disruption for the club and I apologise for that. It was neither my intention nor my wish."
The Blues described Maresca's resignation as a "decision not to continue fulfilling his responsibilities", adding they have reached a confidential agreement with the Italian.
Maresca spent a season working as Guardiola's assistant when they won the treble in 2023.

The signing of Anderson joins several other big-money moves already completed this transfer window.
Sandro Tonali has left Newcastle United for Tottenham in a £100m deal, breaking Spurs' record transfer fee.
Tottenham had broken it the day before too, with the signing of Matheus Fernandes from West Ham for £85m.
