Britons heading to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this month are in luck, as they could see some of Scotland's best attractions while there.
New data has crowned Scotland's most photographed destination, with five parts of Edinburgh making the top 10 list.
Photo curation app Popsa reviewed the metadata from millions of photos uploaded by customers in 2025 to rank locations by the relative volume of snaps taken there. Edinburgh Castle topped the list with a perfect 100 on the company's Photo Index Score.
The fortress proved particularly popular, as its nearest competitor, St Giles' Cathedral, managed a score of just 48.

The list highlights the variety of sights in Scotland, with a mix of ancient fortresses, dramatic natural landscapes, and locations made famous by Hollywood.

Scotland's capital has impressed visitors, with five of the top 10 spots in the city. Nearly as impressive were the Highlands, with four landmarks highlighted.
Glencoe's 14,000 acres of dramatic peaks and glacial valleys claimed third place as the highest-ranked spot outside Edinburgh. Eilean Donan Castle, perched on a tidal island, earned its fame partly through appearances in Highlander and the Bond film The World Is Not Enough.
The Glenfinnan Viaduct is best known as the Hogwarts Express route in Harry Potter fans, and Urquhart Castle rounds out the list with its ruins overlooking Loch Ness.
Stirling Castle, sitting in sixth place, is the only entry that falls outside both Edinburgh and the Highlands — its Renaissance architecture and views towards the Wallace Monument making it a firm favourite with photographers.
