Summer is just around the corner, and many Britons will soon search for some sun and guaranteed blue skies with a trip abroad.

According to new data from Google Trends, searches for “best family holiday destinations abroad” have surged by 5,000 per cent in the past month as holidaymakers look for destinations with dependable summer weather.

New research from TUI analysed historical weather data across more than 150 European destinations to find which countries are likely to have the best conditions for a 2026 family holiday.

The study places Turkey firmly at the top of the list, as it offers a mix of high temperatures, low rainfall and light winds during the summer months.

Best weather prediction for a 2026 family holiday

Turkey achieved an Ideal Weather Score of 8.7 out of 10, with average temperatures of 27.57°C and almost no rainfall usually recorded during the peak holiday season.

The country’s reliable weather makes it great for families who want stress-free beach days and outdoor activities without worrying about sudden downpours.

TRAVEL INSPIRATION

Popular resorts along the Turkish Riviera allow access to clear waters, sunshine and family-friendly hotels. Coastal destinations such as Dalaman and nearby Göcek ranked particularly well in the research.

Second place went to Cyprus, which scored 8.57 out of 10. With average temperatures of 27.45°C and very low rainfall, Cyprus offers ideal conditions for Britons wanting to spend long days outdoors by the sea or pool.

Meanwhile, Greece came in third place with a score of 7.6. Greece’s warm temperatures, gentle sea breezes and scenic island coastlines make it one of Europe’s most popular summer destinations.

Further data showed a breakdown of individual holiday hotspots, with Turkey dominating the results again, taking nine of the top 10 positions.

Dalaman and Göcek topped the rankings with Ideal Weather Scores of 9.36 out of 10, offering temperatures hovering between 26°C and 28°C, very light winds and virtually no rainfall.
