Virgin Voyages has announced its first-ever cruises to Scandinavia and the Baltics, with a brand-new adults-only season that includes an Arctic Circle crossing beneath the midnight sun.

The cruise line will homeport Valiant Lady in Amsterdam for the first time in summer 2028, offering six new itineraries exploring Northern Europe, including maiden calls at every destination and sailings through Norway's dramatic fjords and Baltic capitals.

Bookings open on August 14, with Virgin Voyages expecting strong demand after previous Summer Season Pass packages and Mediterranean sailings sold out.

The highlight of the new programme is an Arctic Circle crossing on August 14, 2028, where guests will sail beyond 71 degrees north and celebrate with a special midnight sun deck party under 24-hour daylight.

The season will feature four Northern Europe itineraries, alongside two one-way repositioning voyages between Barcelona and Amsterdam, giving passengers the option to book a single sailing or combine multiple cruises.

Virgin Voyages is also bringing back its popular Summer Season Pass, allowing guests to sail all four Northern Europe voyages back-to-back.

TRAVEL INSPIRATION

Guests booking the pass will also receive a Nordic-inspired welcome pack featuring Scandinavian treats, an exclusive jacket, curated destination guides and travel essentials including a reusable water bottle, backpack and portable power bank.

CEO of Virgin Voyages, Nirmal Saverimuttu, said: "One of the things that's most exciting about seeing more Sailors come back to us year after year is that it gives us the confidence to keep expanding into new parts of the world.

"We've become the go-to brand for anyone travelling without kids. And now, Northern Europe felt like the right next step. We've built these voyages around the kinds of experiences that make people fall in love with a destination, from the fjords and Baltic capitals to sailing beneath the midnight sun."

Chief Brand Experience, Marketing and Momentum Officer, Nathan Rosenberg, added: "We have so much love for our Mediterranean & Alaskan experiences we can't wait to show off how Virgin Voyages will celebrate this new part of the map we have unlocked.

"The fjords called for something calmer. The Baltic cities called for something later. The Arctic Circle called for something we'd never staged before, and it will be epic. Crafted for our sailors but inspired by the new places we are headed."

The inaugural season begins in Barcelona on July 9, 2028, before Valiant Lady crosses the Arctic Circle on August 14 and concludes back in Barcelona on September 4.

The announcement marks Virgin Voyages' latest expansion following its move into Alaska, giving adults looking for a child-free cruise another bucket-list option with longer days, cooler climates and some of Northern Europe's most spectacular scenery.
