The alleged abuse took place 'over a period of time' in London

Convicted paedophile Gary Glitter has faced police questioning behind bars regarding fresh allegations of sexual offences against a child.

The 82-year-old former glam rock performer, born Paul Gadd, is accused of committing crimes against a girl younger than 14 at a Kensington residence during the late 1970s and early 1980s.

According to reports in The Sun, the alleged abuse took place "over a period of time" at the west London property.

Officers interviewed the disgraced singer under caution at his current place of detention following a complaint lodged on January 9, 2025.

Gadd remains incarcerated at HMP Channings Wood, a category C facility in Devon, where he continues serving time for previous child sex crimes.

The Metropolitan Police has confirmed that its inquiry into the reported offending remains active.

A force spokesperson stated: "A man in his 80s was interviewed under caution in relation to the reported offending in July 2025."

The statement added: "The investigation is ongoing, and the victim is currently being supported by specialist officers."

Police emphasised their commitment to those coming forward with historical abuse claims, saying: "Anyone reporting non-recent sexual offences will be listened to and supported."

Glitter received a 16-year prison term in 2015 after being found guilty of sexually abusing three schoolgirls between 1975 and 1980, with his sentence due to expire in 2031.

Those convictions emerged through Operation Yewtree, the Metropolitan Police investigation established following revelations about Jimmy Savile's offending.

Gadd holds the distinction of being the first individual arrested under that operation, detained at his London home in October 2012.

He was granted automatic release from HMP The Verne, a low-security facility in Portland, Dorset, in February 2023 after completing half of his fixed-term determinate sentence.

However, his freedom proved short-lived, lasting fewer than six weeks before authorities returned him to custody.

Police monitoring revealed Gadd had violated his licence conditions by allegedly attempting to access the dark web and viewing downloaded images of children, prompting his swift return to prison.

His subsequent bid for release through a Parole Board paper review, which examines written evidence, was rejected in June last year.

Such reviews determine whether recalled prisoners should be freed again or remain incarcerated until their sentence concludes.

The former chart-topper's criminal history extends beyond British shores, having previously served time in Vietnam in 2006 for committing obscene acts with two young girls.

Gadd rose to fame during the 1970s glam rock era before his career was destroyed by multiple convictions for offences against children spanning several decades.
