Tesla and Ford both had two models in the top 10 best-selling cars in June

Sales of new Tesla electric cars have surged over the last month, with the Model Y and Model 3 topping the charts for the best-selling vehicles in June.

Fresh data from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders found that 213,166 new cars were registered in the UK last month, with electric cars capturing 30 per cent of the new vehicle market.

Tesla was the biggest benefactor of the spike in electric vehicle registrations, selling 6,765 Model Ys and 5,408 Model 3s last month, making them the best-selling models, regardless of powertrain.

Many other automakers have built on an impressive first half of the year, with Ford placing in third and tenth with the Puma and Kuga respectively, while Kia, Nissan and Mini continue to retain consumer interest.

Using SMMT data, GB News has collated the 10 best-selling cars in the UK last month.
