Cold Weather Payments have been triggered in eight new postcodes, it’s been confirmed today
More people are due to get a £25 Cold Weather Payment within days, after new triggers have been confirmed.
Qualifying people who live in eight particular postcodes will now get the payment to help towards the extra costs that come with very cold weather, after temperatures plummeted below zero.
To get a Cold Weather Payment, a person must be eligible for the payment and live in a postcode where it has been triggered - meaning the average temperature in the area is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees Celsius or below over seven days in a row.
The payment of £25 for each seven-day period of very cold weather should be paid automatically. The money should be paid within 14 working days after each period of very cold weather.
