Home Bargains has given an update to its millions of customers
A major retailer has confirmed plans to shut all of its stores later this year during one of the busiest shopping seasons.
Home Bargains has announced that every one of its 617 UK shops will shut their doors for three days over the festive period this year.
The discount retailer will not welcome customers on Christmas Day (December 25), Boxing Day (December 26), or New Year's Day (1 January).
With this announcement, shoppers are being reminded that they will need to plan their purchases around the closures later this year.
No additional information about the shutdowns for 2026 has yet been provided. The move follows an identical decision last year, when the chain also kept all its branches closed across the same three dates.
When the same closures were implemented last year, a spokesperson for the company said: "Our colleagues work incredibly hard throughout the year, and we want to recognise that commitment."
They added: "As a family-run business, we understand the importance of spending time with family and friends, particularly over the holidays.
"We're proud to give our teams additional time off to enjoy the festive season."
The decision reflects the retailer's emphasis on its family-run ethos and its commitment to ensuring staff can spend key holiday dates with loved ones rather than behind the till.
Home Bargains stocks a broad selection of goods at reduced prices, spanning homeware, groceries, beauty items, toys and furniture.
Meanwhile, the budget chain is also preparing to launch a brand new outlet before the end of the year.
A fresh Truro store is due to open its doors on November 28, giving local customers the chance to pick up their Christmas essentials in good time.
