Thousands gathered in Washington DC were treated to the “largest fireworks show in history” as the United States celebrated the 250th anniversary of declaring independence.
President Donald Trump watched on as the stormy night sky was lit up by huge, fantastically colourful explosions above the American capital’s most historic landmarks.
Accompanying the awe-inspiring spectacle was a concert, playing a medley of American classics.
Throughout the evening, which was disrupted by stormy weather, DC also hosted a landmark speech by President Trump and a flyover that included the brand-new Air Force One.
